Don Det

We spent some time in the island of Don Det, in the south of Laos. They are plenty of little islands where people come to relax because there is not much to do.

Nous avons décidé d’aller à Don Det petite île sur le Mékong au milieu de beaucoup d’autres. Il n’y a pas grand chose à faire à part se reposer.

We had to go on a small long boat to cross to the island and they put as many people as possible with their bags. It go scary because the boat nearly tipped over. I was happy to get off of it  I thought for sure we would sink. It would have been devastating because we would lose all of our valuable electronics and other precious belongings. We didn’t know where to stay so we were recommended to go to the Sunset View bungalows. The view was the best on the whole Island for the sunset, we had hammocks and a terrasse to hang out overlooking the river. One night we saw the up most spectacular sunset that I had ever seen. The colors kept changing. The sun illuminated the clouds so it made them pink, purple and orange. The sky still had some blue so the colors just got even crazier. The sun set just behind a tree so it gave the most amazing affect. I’d say that, that sunset would be in national geographic.

Pour atteindre l’île nous avons pris un long bateau, comme d’habitude ils entassent les gens avec leurs gros sacs à dos et j’ai bien cru que nous allions chavirer. Ca aurait été catastrophique de perdre tous nos ordinateurs etc, et nos vêtements. Nous n’avions pas de réservation quelqu’un nous a conseillé les petits bungalows de Sunset View. Ils ont la plus belle vue pour le coucher du soleil, assis sur ta terrasse dans ton hamac. Mes les chambres étaient pas très bien et pas très propres. Tous les soirs nous avions des couchers spectaculaires, avec des couleurs qui passaient du orange au rose digne de figurer au magasine National Geographic.

We chilled out a lot, did some tubing one day with my sister and mom another with my dad. The last evening we went on a little cruise to watch the sunset on the river. The food wasn’t the best, but we made the best of it. There was this old lady who was baking the best samosas (sort of indian little pies) chicken, vegetables or Banana.

Nous nous sommes bien reposés, j’ai fait du tubing avec ma soeur et ma mère un jour puis mon père le lendemain. Le dernier soir, nous avons fait une petite croisière sur le Mékong jusqu’à la frontière avec le Cambodge.

We changed hotel after the first night because the rooms were not really nice and we lost electricity so it was very very hot without a fan. we went just next door, the view wasn’t as nice but the rooms much nicer! After a few days chilling we left for Cambodia. Another country  but I am dreading that whole day of travelling and border crossing, because they are exhausting.

Nous avons changé d’hotel après la premiere nuit car les chambres n’étaient vraiment pas super et que l’électricité ne marchait pas, il faisait très très chaud sans ventilateur pas possible. Nous sommes allés dans l’hotel d’à côté qui était propre et avec clim. Voilà notre séjour au Laos s’achève direction le Cambodge, mais je ne suis pas très excité à l’idée d’une journée de minibus et de passage de frontière.
